Book Review: Ronit & Jamil

ronit and jamil
Ronit &Jamil, by Pamela L. Laskin, Katherine Tegan Books (HarperCollins), $17.99
April is National Poetry Month
Love! Love! Love! this book, told in gorgeous, lyrical language, a “Shakespearean Love Triangle” set in our modern, war-torn world.
You will fall in love with this novel-in-verse, as Ronit, an Israeli girl, and Jamil, a Palestinian boy, break generational rules by falling desperately into forbidden love. Well-done, wonderful book depicting cultural diversity without writing to the market, as the story plays out against the backdrop of the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine. Must-read for poets, romantics, activists, realists, especially for National Poetry Month in April.
